Professor Dr. Oktay BANLI was born in 1965 in Gülsehir. He graduated from Dikmen Primary School, Sokullu Mehmet Pasa Secondary School and Ankara Atatürk High School. In 1988, he graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine. After completing his mandatory service in Saphane, Kütahya, he started his speciality in 1991 in Erciyes University Faculty of Medicine, Department of General Surgery.
In 1996, he became a General Surgery Specialist. He worked as a lecturer at the University for one year.
In 1997, he started to work at SB Etlik İhtisas Hospital. He worked at the General Surgery Clinic and the Transplantation Clinic for kidney transplantation for 11 years. In addition, he went to France to study at different times in 2005-2006. He studied advanced laparoscopy.
On October 18, 2007, he received the title of Associate Professor of General Surgery by passing successfully the associate professor exam. Since October 2008, he has been working as Chief of General Surgery Clinic at Elazıg Training and Research Hospital.
In 2013 he became a professor of general surgery. in 2014, he worked at U.S. New York Weil Cornell Medical College and Lenox Hill Hospital, bariatric and metabolic surgery clinics.
He has been performing Laparoscopic morbid obesity operations since 2006 intensively.
He has many publications and papers published in local and foreign journals. He speaks English. He is married and has two children.
